Beach Hop 2010 is
the 10th anniversary of this spectacular event.
It is to be held in Whangamata between 24th &
28th March 2010 with most of the major events on
Saturday 27th March.
There are a number
of fun events held during the day that Coastal
Rockers have organised in conjunction with the
Beach Hop committee.
On Saturday
morning the Grand Parade will be lead by the
Coastal Rockers Rock’n’Roll Club.
We will be
assembling at the Whangamata Club in Port Road
at 9.15 am for the march along to the roundabout
by the Fire Station where we will proceed the
length of the shopping area to the next
roundabout stopping regularly to dance in the
street.
We are inviting
all other clubs to join us dressed in club
colours with their banners and balloons etc. We
have a mobile sound system to provide the dance
music. If your club wishes to participate please
contact the secretary by email or post.
Following the
parade between approximately 11.00 am and 12.30
pm we are holding a mystery spot prize dance in
the carpark next to the Council Building where
chosen dance couples could win $50.00 cash
prizes.
Saturday
Night at the Club.
Coastal Rockers committee & members have
recognised that everyone attending Beach Hop
need to be closer to the action, giving them the
freedom to visit other venues and check out the
other bands, as well as the parade of cars doing
their night cruise.
Our night time
event needed to evolve from the traditional
Birthday Hop to allow this to happen.
Coastal Rockers
will be sponsoring the Saturday Night Dance at
Whangamata Club in Port Rd featuring our choice
of traditional 50s & 60s dance music especially
for Rock n Roll dancers.
We will be hosting
the Rockin Daddys, which is an Australian band
who regularly feature at Australian Rock n Roll
Dance Sport events.
They also appear at Beach Hop as the Atomic Hi
Tones as they have for a number of years.
There are no
tickets to purchase, or pay a cover charge, just
show up and rock on in.
The Whangamata
Club offers a full range of bar & restaurant
facilities.
Come and join us as we turn back the years.
